This academic year, many Trevs sports teams have witnessed huge and even record-breaking successes. This piece highlights some of these successes, and the results listed are a testament to the dedication and hard work of Trevs’ athletes.

TREVS-MARY’S VARSITY

At the beginning of May, Trevs took on Mary’s in the annual Varsity. Many teams participated, with a number of stand-out performances.

Trevelyan Basketball won with a score of 33 to 29. Women’s Netball were dominant with a 28 to 19 win – a fantastic result! In line with their mastery this year, Badminton was also strong at Varsity. The Women’s Badminton team clinched victory with a score of 5 to 4, as did the Mixed Badminton team. Finally, Trevelyan Volleyball won with a score of 3 to 2.

BADMINTON

The 2025/26 season has been incredible for Trevs Badminton. Outside of their success at Varsity, the club has been dominant. The Men’s A team placed second in their first season in the Premiership, with an astounding 6 wins out of 7. The Women’s A team also placed second, with 5 wins to 1 loss.

The Mixed teams also had a strong season. The Mixed A team, in the Premiership, placing second with 5 wins and 1 loss. Finally, the Mixed B team came 5th in the Second Division, with 4 fantastic wins, displaying incredible improvement throughout the year. As Trevs Badminton continues to rise, it is safe to say that they will be a club to watch.

CHEER

Each year, college cheer teams compete in the intercollegiate competition. Trevs Cheer entered three teams this year: co-ed main stunt, co-ed group stunt, and all-girl group stunt. In the co-ed group stunt, Trevs placed 1st for the third year in a row, showing the skill and dedication of the athletes. The co-ed main student team also placed third in their category, a fantastic result.

ULTIMATE FRISBEE

Trevs Ultimate Frisbee has also had an impressive year. They placed 3rd in the Premiership, an outstanding result! Earlier in the year, the club also placed 3rd in the Beginners Tournament, a testament to those who trying something new and pick up a new sport whilst at university. This result also reflects the skills of those who train novice members within college sports teams.

BOAT CLUB

Trevelyan College Boat Club (TCBC) have witnessed nothing short of a dominant year, going from strength to strength. In Epiphany Term, TCBC travelled to Belgium for their first ever international race. The club took two

boats, a Men’s 8+ and Mixed 8+, and had a great time. Another great success for the club came at Derwentwater Head in March. Travelling to the Lake District, TCBC brought two eight and three fours. Both the Men’s and Women’s Eights saw great victory, setting two new course records – a truly astonishing feat.

To round out head season, the club travelled to the infamous Women’s Head of the River Race (WEHORR) and Head of the River Race (HORR). The Women’s 8+ dominated at WEHORR and secured the spot of fastest Durham college by six seconds. TCBC took two Men’s 8+ to HORR and both crews performed well. The 1V were the second fastest college crew, only losing out to Collingwood by a number of seconds. Nevertheless, the crew produced the fastest time for TCBC ever on this course, a commendable feat. The 2V also perfumed well, beating all the other Durham college second eights. As the club moves into Regatta season, HEX looks forward seeing what the club’s new exec can accomplish and to its continued meteoric rise.

OTHER RESULTS

Trevs Men’s Rugby had a monumental Floodlit victory over South in November, both impressive and historic. Trevelyan Netball has had a dominant year, with both the A and B teams securing many wins across the year, showing their dedication and hard work. Trevs Futsal have also witnessed an impressive year, narrowly missing out on the win in the Futsal Playoff Final in March.

Whilst it is not possible to mention every victory, all the Trevs sports teams have performed wonderfully this year. Every single result is a testament to the dedication and skill of Trevelyan athletes who continue to train, excel and make the college proud.
