Bex Smith has been elected President of Trevelyan College JCR for the academic year 2026-27.

When polls closed at 8pm on Sunday 1st February, it was revealed Bex, the current JCR Vice-President, had clinched victory over Dan Wattis with 77 votes to 68. There were eight votes to re-open nominations.

In an exclusive statement to HEX, Bex said:

“I’m honoured to be Trevs’ next JCR President and am very grateful for everyone’s support during the election process. It was tough running against Dan, as we are such good friends, and their campaign was strong and commendable. I’ll have big boots to fill following Harry’s tenure, but I’m excited to work on projects for the 60th Anniversary year! I aim to fulfil my vision of a friendly, unified, nurturing JCR – and hopefully higher engagement will follow. Stay hexy :D”

Elsewhere, HEX’s own Deputy Editor-in-Chief Andrew Hamilton secured a second term as JCR Chair, and second-year maths student Titus Uzemeckas was elected as Buttery Chair.

Andrew and Titus will take up their positions at the end of this term, marked at handover formal on 19th March, while Bex will begin her tenure as President on 1st August.
