FAQs
Who can write for HEX?
Currently, any member of Trevelyan College JCR or MCR can write for HEX. Our society is completely free to join!
What type of article can I submit to HEX?
We accept pretty much anything – but we really encourage you to write articles about life in Trevs or Durham University, whether this be societies, your own experience, or about the events in Trevs. However, you’ll see a huge range of content on our website. When writing an article, have a think about which section it best fits, and use this as a guide as to what sort of content we publish.
How long should my article be?
Articles should be between 400-800 words, although we accept longer and shorter articles. This can also vary per section – a poem in creative writing will likely not be this long!
Where can I see content calls?
We publish all content calls in our Facebook Contributors’ Group, which you can join if you’re a member of Trevelyan JCR or MCR. All you need to do is comment which article you’d like to take on a post!
How can I join HEX as an Editor?
You can join our society just by following our social media pages and contributing to the magazine, but we also have an Editorial Board of people who manage each section. You can run for a position at our AGM, which we will publicise on our Instagram and Facebook pages.
