A poem on student cohabitation.

Signing onto My Student House Too Quickly…

Strings of fairy lights and photographs.

I love my bed

And the sheets

And the way the light greets them

I just wish it was this room and the city

And all of my people

Sat on the palm of New Zealand

It haunts me how it is only a wall

That breaks this string

And how if I listen clear

I can hear your heartbeat creeping through the paint and the plaster

A full course meal for fear

So if only my world

My joy and my comfort,

My passion and my friends

Could fly to the furthest point away from this house

But let everything remain the same

(Just away from you)
