In one of the closest elections possible, Harry Naylor has been elected as Trevelyan JCR President for the academic year 2025-26.
The election had a turn out of 166 – a 19.5% turnout that is the highest I have seen in my time at Trevs. Harry, a third-year Geography student from Surrey and current Welfare Officer, successfully saw off competition from Imogen McEwing, Ollie Laws and of course RON (Re-open Nominations), to secure his role as James Koo’s successor at the helm of the JCR. Harry’s victory came down to a singular vote (75 to 74), after three rounds of counting under the Single Transferable Vote system, defeating a valiant campaign by Imogen McEwing, the current Buttery Treasurer.
In response to his victory, Harry had this to say:
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be your next JCR President; thank you so much to everyone who voted in what was an incredible election. I’m looking forward to getting started, building connections, hearing people’s ideas and working towards making sure Trevs feels a fantastic place to be. We’re so lucky to have an incredible community – so I invite everyone reading this to come and see what the JCR does and bring your skills, ideas and personalities to the table. We’re going to be absolutely awesome!”.

In other results, Bex Smith has been elected as VP, Helena O’Neill and Isabelle Smith to the role of Welfare Officers, Sarah Margerison as Publicity Officer, Dan Wattis as Technical Manager, and finally, Andrew Hamilton as JCR Chair, thus the proverbial Naylor Administration is beginning to take shape.
In my capacity as JCR Chair (not just as News Editor of HEX), I would like to thank all the candidates for their well-run campaigns, and everyone who took the time out of their day to vote and make their voices heard.
